Zig-zagrebing
With the plan to go to Zagreb in the morning locked and loaded we went to bed on Saturday night. It wasn't until the morning that we discovered, unlike Italy, everything is closed on a Sunday not a Monday. Armed with this knowledge we resolved to make the most out of our remaining drive to Zagreb on the Sunday and then visit it properly on the Monday.
Since we loved Slovenia so much we decided on the way out we would pop into another Slovenian town of Novo Mesto which didn't dissapoint. One cute alpine-looking city and a forrest walk later we were back on the road.
Well we would have been back on the road sooner were it not for these cyclists.
On arriving in Zagreb we stopped at a favourite of ours, poorly maintained ruins. Not Roselle, Cosa, or Dvingrad but this time Susegrad. A 13th century castle involved in holding back the Turkish expansion and abandoned in the 17th century it was not the most impressive of the abandoned sites but still pretty cool.
Arriving at our park up we decided to hit the third forest /park of the day and relish in the new 7.30 pm sunsets!
In the morning we headed into Zagreb to enjoy some more Austro-Hungarian architecture and plenty of green spaces. Not our favourite city but very pretty nonetheless.
In one of the most novel museums yet, Rob did his best 80s dad impression.
On arriving in Hungary one of our first stops was a classic crazy British tourist move: TESCO! Only in UK, Ireland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary we were very excited, although being super Hungary, lol, at the same time probably contributed to that too. Feat. Moira over 3,000 miles in and still holding mostly strong.
Back on the road again in the early evening we were treated to daylight for the whole of our 2 hour drive despite it being after 5pm, we LOVE this new daylight savings in case you couldn't tell! We arrived at our park up for the night on the enormous lake Balaton.
Tomorrow we're going to finally get back to a thermal bath, our last one was in Switzerland, and make our way to the park up outside Budapest.
Where's the photo of rob sound an impression? Looks like a 60 year old dad has photo bombed
